My family’s love of camping in Cornwall started over 50 years ago in a now much desired split screen VW camper. In those days the journey took a while, everyone had to get out of the campervan when it reached the climb up to Bodmin. Tales of comical camping moments: waking up to pigs in their tents, dog basket (with dog in it) floating past after a storm, all part of the fun! Thankfully facilities & technology have moved on somewhat, but our love of the outdoors remains the same.
We created Ysella to gather with friends & family to celebrate under the stars & around a campfire!
Camping in VW
In 2017 we started to re-wild our meadow, & through native tree planting we help sequester carbon emissions created with tent deliveries & guest journeys. We are engaged in a programme of re-planting native trees such as sessile oak, beech, birch, alder, hazel & willow. These are planted at the edges of the field to leave the meadow in the middle free for wild flowers, grasses & the occasional drying tent! The meadow is invaluable for invertebrates. We aim to improve our natural habitat, whilst combining our love of the outdoors with minimal impact camping. We take pride in being responsible & responsive. A small delivery charge goes towards tree planting to offsetting carbon used on travel.
