Camping like the good ol' days, a wonderful Cornish Farm Campsite, Trevellas Manor Farm

With ancient Cornish farm buildings, sea views, epic sunsets, rolling countryside, and MASSES of space, Trevellas Manor Farm Campsite is camping like the good ol' days!

Every now and again you come across a very special campsite you know you will come back to again and again. For us Trevellas Manor Farm Campsite is one of those sites. It is truly one of our happy places. A family farm since the 18th century and a campsite since 1927. It's one of Cornwall's oldest campsites. Staying here makes you feel really grateful that your love of camping allows you unique access to wake up in such a magical place. None of which possible without a tent! I mean, how many campsites do you get a face full of glorious Cornish seascape when you step out of your Bell Tent in the morning.

What's nearby?

Trevellas is not only an amazing campsite, it's in a 100% convenient location. A good campsite in my book is one that has everything you need conveniently close to a whole heap of places you want to visit. Aka, beaches, places to eat, places of historic interest, walks, PUBS, shops... you know. Trevellas has it all!

Trevellas is a rare gem of a campsite...

Wonderfully quiet and traditional, with ancient Cornish hedgerows, the large pre-marked pitches are set around the edges of a big meadow, facing the sea. There's absolutely no overcrowding, your nearest neighbour will be pitched some distance away. We love pitch 18 for the best views!

Unusually the middle of the camping field is kept completely clear of tents, so the panorama can be fully enjoyed. It's not that these style of campsites don't exist anymore, but they're just becoming harder to find. Most campsites are over subscribed, particularly in the school holidays, or have been modified into novelty 'Glamping' sites for cabins or converted buses. Trevellas is in a key location without such commercial intent or changes. I imagine it's a brave decision to keep the site as it is, on this absolutely prime slice of Cornwall real estate. You can walk to the beach in less than ten minutes, and with nothing but rolling countryside, or Atlantic ocean in front of you, they could easily jam in another 100 pitches! Brilliantly they haven't, for so many times have we rocked up to a campsite only to discover we’re either facing a hedge or into someone else’s tent for the week!

If you're a devoted camper originale, just like me, someone who wants a grassy campsite that you share with nature and little else, Trevellas is your place!

  • Trevellas Porth - a hidden gem. You’ll often find that Trevellas is completely deserted, with no cafe or anything, if it's peace and quiet you’re after, this is the place. Trevellas Porth is the closest beach the campsite, only a 10 minute walk down a beautiful valley, abundant with Gorse and Monterey pine. Trevellas Porth (and the campsite) offers a spectacular sunsets. Great wild swimming and uninterrupted barbequing opportunities. The water is amazing clear and blue, and often feels like being on a Greek island! It might just be our favourite beach come the school holidays.

  • Trevaunance Cove - a part pebbly, part sandy plateau at the foot of St. Agnes. It is great for rock-pools, swimming, surfing, and an early evening beer (Verdant on tap) and sourdough pizza at Schooners, as the sun goes down. It’s a buzzy beach, good vibes!

Our Top Campsite Tips

  • Nearby Pubs to soak up the views and local brews...from the Trevellas Campsite you can walk over the headland (Southwest Coast Path) into St Agnes. There is a fantastic traditional Cornish brew pub called the Driftwood Spars, with amazing views of the cove and valley. The Miners Arms is another good Cornish pub serving good food all day. Straight up hands down, the Miners serve the best Sticky Toffee Pudding in the world! Both destinations make a good afternoon or lunchtime walk from the campsite. Nothing better than a hike to a pub, then walking back woozy in time for dinner. We're experts at that.

  • You'll (probably) be relived to know 4G works well at Trevellas Campsite.

  • A local bus, the U1A, passes near the campsite every hour, travelling from Perranporth to St Agnes (from Newquay to Falmouth).

  • At Perranporth you'll find a well stocked Co-op, Butcher, Baker and various Cafe's and places to eat.

  • In St Agnes there's a new excellent south Indian takeaway/ restaurant called Sunny Spice. A Bakery, Spar and Cornish Farm Shop, plus loads of other great Bars. We love the Tap House for it's surfy vibe and choice of 80 gins! Also the Peterville Inn gastropub, which won GOLD for Pub of the Year 2023/24 in the Cornwall Tourism Awards. Here you'll find totally scrumptious Cocktails and legendary Truffle Fries!
